Dual Fuel or Hybrid Heating and Cooling Systems Guarantee Savings

Hybrid heat pumps offer low-cost installation and operation

Hybrid heating and cooling systems, also referred to as dual fuel systems, are what we believe to be the best heating and cooling systems for the masses. With a hybrid heating and cooling system, the outside air is used as the heat source down to 27 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature outside falls below that, the system then switches over to use the gas fueled furnace. Thus the term dual fuel heating and cooling system is interchangeably used.

Hybrid heating and cooling systems cost less to install than Geothermal and still offer comparable savings to a geothermal system. We believe so strongly in  hybrid heating & cooling and dual fuel systems that we have installed them in our own homes and business.

Hybrid or dual fuel heating and cooling systems are becoming increasingly popular among home and business owners. The main reason for this is reduced installation and operation expenses. Over the years hybrid systems have proven to be advantageous both to users and utility companies that are looking to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions.

What are dual fuel heating and cooling systems?

A dual fuel system (also known as dual fuel heat pump, all-weather or all-fuel system) combines an electric space-condition heat pump with a fuel-fired (natural gas, propane or oil) furnace. It functions as a furnace and air-conditioner saving you the cost of installing and operating two separate systems.

How does a hybrid heating and cooling system work?

When cooling, the all-fuel system functions like a standard air conditioner using the heat pump to cool the air. Heating responsibilities, on the other hand, are divided between the furnace and the heat pump. The dual fuel heat pump switches to the natural gas, propane or oil fired furnace when temperatures dip below the thermal balance point (heat pump heating capacity) and supplemental heating is required.

What are the advantages of dual fuel heating and cooling?

Cheaper to install than the cost-efficient geothermal heating and cooling systems

Lowest operation costs when compared to other traditional and alternate fuel heating and air conditioning systems

Available in a wide variety of types including split systems

Services any size home or commercial space

Easy installation or retrofit as it typically doesn’t require wiring or electric service upgrades

Provides more comfort since it has improved room-to-room heat distribution and zonal heat trapping

Quicker heat recovery capabilities lowering your heating bills significantly

Offers better humidity in the winter

Specialized controls determine the least-cost operating option so you can adjust to price changes in fuel and electricity
